Assistant Principal Page

Dear Powderhorn Community,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is C.J. Cain and I am excited to serve as the Assistant Principal at Powderhorn for the next school year.

This will be my 13th year in Education. My first nine years were as a teacher and in last three years I’ve served in school leadership roles. This past school year I served as the Assistant Principal at Paris Elementary in Aurora, Colorado. I grew up in Ironwood, Michigan not far from Big Powderhorn Mountain Ski Resort in the Upper Peninsula. In my spare time I enjoy reading and coaching youth sports in the South Jeffco leagues.

Family is very important to me. I see our school community as one family. I look forward to getting to know you, your family, and our Powderhorn family. My wife Lindsey and our four children live in Littleton. Our oldest will be a senior at Columbine, followed by our other daughter who will be a 7th Grader at Ken Caryl. Our sons will be in 5th Grade and Kindergarten at Leawood. We look forward to connecting with all of you.

Over the next few weeks I will be spending time getting to know the school, the community, and bringing myself up to speed on the school improvement goals at Powderhorn. At my core is adding value to the lives of others. It is my mission to support the growth and development of everyone I am privileged to serve as together we continue to move Powderhorn along the path of excellence.

Doing so starts with building relationships. You will see me in the hallways, classrooms, at lunch and recess and in the community as I get to know our students, staff, families, and community members. In my experience I have found that people genuinely appreciate a person who invests in them and is fair in their decision making. These two things are very important to me. In addition to building strong relationships with all of you, it is particularly important to me that you and your child feels safe at school. If you ever have a concern about something or a question about a specific situation or procedure please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Communication is paramount within a school. For this reason, I will always encourage you to contact your child’s teacher or me with questions. My door is always open and you can always reach me on my cell phone if you need anything.

I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to serve in such a wonderful school community. I look forward to meeting you.
