Homework Policy

Dear Parents and Families:

We have researched the benefits of homework for our young learners and determined that homework does not improve student achievement in elementary school. We believe that your child can be successful with the instruction provided in the 6 hours and 35 minutes they are with us daily.

Teachers may provide students with extended instructional opportunities (ex. Project Based Learning, individual or group projects). Powderhorn will also be providing online extended instructional opportunities to support additional practice for all learners.

We ask that you spend your evenings doing things that are proven to correlate with student success. Eat dinner together, promote reading by encouraging your child to read nightly or read with your child, play outside, go on a walk together and support a good night’s rest for your child.

This revised policy will take effect October 1st.

Thank you for your support.
